My first issue of the semester

Being a Senior in college, you have what seems like a thousand responsibilities weighing on your shoulders. As a Journalism major, I have been through many major writing classes but had not yet experienced writing for a newspaper. I had no idea that my college newspaper, "The Cleveland Stater" was an actual college course for students under the branch of Journalism and Promotion Communication. The first week of class was very informative and by the second week, reporting had begun and everything suddenly became extremely fast paced. I had never actually gone out and reported on a potential story, so I was pretty flustered and all over the place for the first issue. I figured out what story would interest me and decided to cover the study abroad program. I called the office ahead of time and set up an interview with the coordinator. My very first interview had my nerves going a little bit because I felt like I didn't have enough questions or that the interviewee would be talking too fast for the notes I was jotting down. However, she was very patient with me and answered the questions with hearty, filling answers that I could definitely utilize in the article. I felt like I should have been a little bit more prepared by having more questions but overall, the interview went smoothly and I walked out of the office thinking, "I can't wait to do that again."
